Image optimization should be the next step how to get better search engine
placement. When browsing the internet you are likely to come across many different
image formats. However, the most used formats are GIF, PNG, JPEG, and bitmaps.

optimization and never alter the original image.
Crop to size of the image. Remember the larger the image the longer it takes to load on your webpage. If you are using large images, slice them up and make them load as part after part.
Choosing the right format for your images is the most important

smaller than GIFs. Use GIF and PNG images rather than JPGs. GIF and PNG images
are smaller in size when compared to JPGs. The file sizes of bitmap images
can be extremely large, which may result in longer download/upload times, because

pixel,
in
other words, what ever you see on the screen before you save is what you see
when you open the image again. So try to use gif, png or jpg images.
One of the best ways to image optimization (for GIFs and PNGs) is
to minimize the “bit-depth” or the number of
colors within your images. Many
images have millions of colors so the first thing that you need to do is
reduce the colors to 256.
For palette-based formats like GIF and
PNG, file size is directly related to the size of the color palette, or the
number
of colors in the image. So minimizing the number of colors in images like
GIFs and PNGs will minimize file size.
Try to use 'Height' and 'Width' tags for your images. So while page loading certain place is left for the images and visitor can go through the content while images are loading.
For image optimization use image compression software that reduce image size. Remember, the more you reduce your image size more will be the loss of quality.
Resize to reduce pixels.
If you have lot of images to display, then try to put them on different pages.
Use same image over and over again if you need a similar image. If you are
keeping a big header graphic on every page of your web site, then use
same graphic to link to all pages on your web site.
If you need to use JPG images, then try to save JPEG's at 50% compression.
Flash presentations, mouse overs, animations etc increase page download time also.
Make sure that image optimization has a large effect to your web site download
time and website download time is important for your visitors and for most
of search engines also. So optimizing size of your images will improve
