navigation.

Your
web
site navigation
should
be logical and
consistent on every webpage. Surfers prefer
the standard left or right side navigation over other layouts. Effective web
site navigation means getting your visitor to the content they came for. Avoid
using very long
lists of links to your sub pages. Try to categorize items into main content
areas and keep the list of those main content areas to as few as possible while
still keeping things easy to find. Users can then navigate to the more specific
content instead of searching through one huge list.
Large web page size. This is one of the biggest mistakes
of webdesign. If your website takes longer than 8 -15
seconds to load you should consider optimizing it for the web. Make sure your
multi-color
graphics (for example photos) are saved in JPEG format and use GIF files for
solid colors and poster art.
Annoying the visitor. Do not ever use things like cursor
trailers or midi music on your web site, this is really annoing for your visitors.
Not keeping your website content fresh. You should make
sure you keep the web site up to date, or include date-relevant
information (i.e. news, sales, limited offers, etc.) into your webpage.
Websites overfilled with flash. If you use to many flash
animations or banners, your visitors can be easily annoyed by them. If you
create website with flash, this site may look great to visitor, but such web
site is hard to see with search engines, which is the worst mistake you can
do for get a better search engine placement
A good website will be made so that it looks and performs the same no matter who is visiting. In the real world, browsers render web pages with at least some subtle differences, but a good web designer will make every effort to avoid using features that will alienate visitors and will avoid using design elements that result in unpredictable results. The correct way to make a site is to design it to work properly regardless of browser, operating system, or resolution.
Inconsistent font face and font size. Just like your navigation, you'll want your font style and size to be consistent. In most cases, you should use the same style on every page.
Wrong Resolution. The average web surfer surfs with their PC screen set to an 800 x 600 resolution. If you create your web pages to fit a 1024 x 768 resolution or higher, keep in mind many people will have to scroll left and right to see your entire page. If you want your web page to be displayed correctly in all resolutions, create your web pages with tables and use percentages to define your table widths instead of actual pixel values.
Use of Frames. Many search engines do not index pages with frames and they can cause printing problems.
Use of bad colors. Try to make your website with the small number of colours.Your web site should contain no more than three colors. Also remember that your body text should be a contrasting color from your background.
Make graphic based website. If possible use text which is the most
important for search engines and for your custommers also.
Website overfilled with banners from banner exchange. Please keep the number of banners to a minimum.
No Meta Tag Info. Many search engines still rely on this information when displaying your site in the search results.
Disable the right-click functions. Please dont use this functions for your visitors.
Scrolling Text. Remember that not everyone will find this idea entertaining.
If you have a sentence or two that you feel is very important to your readers,
don't make them to scroll across your screen, just use plain text and save
the scrolling text for the less significant messages or perhaps sub-titles.
Designing a website with no marketing experience. Most web designers
have no idea how to make money on the internet and how to get a better search
engine placement
Long Paragraphs. This is a common mistake made by many webmasters.
Try make your web pages easy to read, remember to break up your paragraphs
often and use subtitles. Most people will skim when trying to find what they're
looking
for, so when your paragraphs are small and separated by logical headings, it
will make it much easier on your visitor's eyes.
