Better search engine ranking basic tips

  • Choose a right domain name, which is going to indicate the type of business you are in.

  • Make web pages for users, not for search engines. Don't deceive your users, or present different content to search engines than you display to users.

  • Avoid hidden text or hidden links or other spamming techniques, because with those techniques you can't get better search engine ranking
  • Choose your web site title carefully. Search engines consider a web page title to be the most telling description of it's content. The webpage title is the caption which appears on the title bar of your browser.
  • Webpage title has a big influence on get better search engine ranking so choose it wisely and use relevant keyword or keyword phrases.
  • Don't overload webpages with irrelevant words. Try to focus on the 3 or 10 keywords or keyword phrases that you think are most important to your web site, then make sure those words are in your web site title, in meta tags and in the body at the beginning of your web page.

  • Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with duplicate content or informationally poor web sites.

  • Avoid doorway pages created just for search engines. Create a useful, information-rich website.

  • Improve the quality of coding by eliminating validation errors and unnecessary complexity that may interfere with search engine indexing.

  • Use the H1 tag, because most earch engines give much more weight to words in the H1 tag.

  • Use Image ALT tags and title tags. Search engine spiders don't know what an image looks like. Most spiders can figure out a few thing about an image by its file name and size but you should include an ALT tag to tell the spider what the image about. Make sure that your TITLE and ALT tags are descriptive and accurate.

  • Use metatags. Metatags are information inserted into the "<head>" area of your web pages. Today most of search engines ignore the meta tags, but some search engines still do index the words within these meta tags.

  • Think about the words users would type to find your webpages, and make sure that your site actually includes those words within it.

  • Try to use text instead of images, javascript, cookies, session ID's, DHTML or flash to display important names, content, or links. The web crawlers doesn't recognize text contained in images.
  • Only with a good and keyword rich content you can get a better search engine ranking
  • If you use frames, then search engine spiders may have trouble crawling your site. If you have framed site, place the page's most important information between the <NOFRAMES> tags (place links to the non-framed pages on your web site).

  • If you decide to use dynamic pages (the URL contains a "?" character), be aware that not every search engine spider crawls dynamic pages as well as static pages. It helps to keep the parameters short and the number of them small.

  • Allow search spiders to crawl your sites without session ID's or arguments that track their path through the site. Using these techniques may result in incomplete indexing of your site, as bots may not be able to eliminate URLs that look different but actually point to the same page.

  • No one can guarantee a top ranking on search engines. Beware of SEO's that claim to guarantee rankings.
  • Be careful if a company won't clearly explain what they intend to do, because if SEO creates a doorway pages or use some spamming techniques, your site could be removed entirely from search engines index.

  • Avoid SEOs that talk about submitting your site to thousands of search engines. These are typically useless exercises that do not affect your ranking in the results of the major search engines. If you dont trust to automatic search engine submission, you can simple choose manual search engine submission and submit your website yourself.

  • Regularly add new information to your website.

  • Be patient. Some search engines take several weeks before your site is placed in their database. Your site may be ready for indexing but it won't be added until a new update is done. Once you are in an engine, check your web site at least once a month. Many search engines visit web sites regularly.

  • Notify the search engines of the existence of the site. This is accomplished by various means, the easiest of which is a link from a different site. Search engine spiders will follow that link and make a note of the site's existence in the search engine's index. This method is also preferred as it results in an inbound link. Another option is to use our free search engine submission service submit your site's URL manually to search engine and directories such as the Google, Yahoo!, Open Directory Project and others.
